Faculty Development Awards
The Office of Professional Development provides Faculty Development Awards twice during an academic year for faculty to attend conferences and training opportunities that will enhance their skills and career development in the areas of medical education and leadership. A call for applications is sent to all faculty along with guidelines for funding. Recipients are expected to use their new knowledge/skills to benefit the College of Medicine through contributions to faculty development activities, programmatic development within the college, or support of other missions within the School of Medicine.
Faculty Development Awards are designed to partially cover the registration and travel expenses associated with:
- Presenting at or attending a conference within the US or Canada (virtually or in-person) or a virtual international conference that will promote new skills, particularly in the areas of medical education or leadership (other areas may be considered if adequately justified)
- Participation in a Harvard Macy Institute course or an equivalent educational program
- Participation in an AAMC sponsored conference or workshop
The number of awards and amounts awarded will be determined by budgetary support and the number and quality of applications received during each funding cycle.
Other Professional Development Funding
Occasionally, faculty attendance is encouraged by the School of Medicine at a specific conference. If funds are available, the Office of Professional Development will send an additional call for faculty funding applications for those faculty members who might be interested in attending the specific conference.
