The Texas A&M Academy of Physician-Scientists is an innovative pathway program for training a new generation of physician-scientists with an emphasis on medical engineering. The Academy provides a dynamic curriculum, formal mentoring, and unique medical research and engineering resources from the Texas A&M Colleges of Medicine and Engineering, Houston Methodist Hospital and Research Institute, and the Texas Medical Center. The Academy of Physician-Scientists was selected as one of only ten medical schools in the nation to receive a prestigious Burroughs Wellcome Fund (BWF) Physician-Scientist Institutional Award to catalyze highly innovative programs for training non-PhD physicians for successful academic careers as physician-scientists.
