Describe your research project.
I am studying how environmental cues are transmitted to RNA binding proteins; specifically, I am investigating how post-translational modification of Serine Arginine Splicing Factor 7 (SRSF7) alters its ability to regulate gene expression in macrophages following innate immune stimuli.
What would you say your biggest accomplishments are so far?
Recently I was awarded an NIHGM F31D fellowship
Why did you choose the School of Medicine at Texas A&M?
I chose MED TAMU because the program had faculty investigating a wide range of interesting research topics, and I enjoyed the collaborative and friendly atmosphere shared by graduate students I saw upon interviewing.
What experiences in our graduate program have made you grow as a scientist?
I have enjoyed seminars about potential jobs or career paths that have been arranged by the GSO.
When I am not in the lab/classroom, I am…
Painting, writing, aquascaping or walking my dog
