Curriculum

Fellows will learn to deliver care to older adults across multiple settings in the Central Texas Veterans Health Care System (Temple and Waco Campuses) and at Baylor Scott &White in Temple, TX. These settings include outpatient clinics (as consultants and primary care providers), hospitals, long term care facilities, assisted living facilities, and private residences.

Rotational Experiences

Elective Rotations:

An elective rotation could be a repetition of a core rotation or may be one of several specialties including Pain Management, Wound Care, Palliative Care, Community Long-Term Care, Hospital In-Home (VA South Texas Health Care, San Antonio, TX) and Complex Transition Care Program (VA South Texas Health Care, San Antonio, TX).

Longitudinal Experiences:

Our fellowship includes longitudinal experiences to foster continuity of care. These include:

• ½ day per week of outpatient geriatric medicine primary care practice (VA Temple Campus)
• ½ day per week at Community Living Center (long-term care facility in VA Waco Campus)
• ½ day every other week in the Outpatient Geriatric Consultation Clinic (VA Temple Campus)

Call Expectations:

Fellows do at-home call only, covering the Community Living Centers in Waco and Temple VA campuses
