Biography
M. Fabiola Saldivar-Garza was born and raised in Monterrey, N.L., Mexico, where she completed medical school at Universidad de Monterrey (UDEM) in 2009 and a Family Medicine residency at UDEM/IMSS in 2013. During residency, she served as an assistant professor in Research Methodologies and later taught Family Dynamics to first-year Family Medicine residents. Driven by a commitment to prevention and chronic disease management, she researched and defended a thesis on general practitioners’ knowledge of ADA guidelines and holistic care for Type 2 diabetes and its impact on patient outcomes.
Clinically, Dr. Saldivar-Garza has cared for diverse populations across rural, public, and private settings, emphasizing comprehensive, root-cause approaches to health. She earned a post-graduate certificate in Clinical Nutrition and Obesity Management from ITESM (2013) and a Master of Science in Health Sciences (Nutrition) from UTRGV (2017).
At the Texas A&M University Naresh K. Vashisht College of Medicine, Dr. Saldivar-Garza is Co-Director of Practice of Medicine I (PoM1), a Learning Community Leader, and an instructor and Co-Director for Medical Spanish. She serves as Co-Chair of the Pre-clerkship Curriculum Subcommittee, is Director of the Lifestyle Medicine Distinction, and advises three student organizations: DAC Med, LMSA+, and the Lifestyle Medicine Student Organization. Her teaching and advising center on leadership development, professionalism, and culturally responsive care.
Married with three children, she enjoys outdoor activities, cheering on Aggie athletics, traveling, singing, reading across genres, lively book-club conversations, and traveling with her kids to their weekend soccer games—cheering them on from the sidelines
