Biography
Michael Dewsnap is an Instructional Assistant Professor in the Humanities in Medicine Department at the Texas A&M University College of Medicine where he teaches leadership in medicine and facilitates various small group learning activities. Dr. Dewsnap earned his M.S.Ed. in Educational Administration from Baylor University and his Ph.D. in Education and Human Resource Studies with a specialization in Higher Education from Colorado State University. His dissertation Exploring the Nature of Physician Leadership for Family Medicine Resident Physicians: A Phenomenological Study focused on qualitative exploration of the cognitive constructions of resident physicians about physician leadership and informed by their lived experiences in medical residency.
He also serves as the Director of the Learning Environment at Texas A&M University College of Medicine. In this role, his task is to foster the learning environment through creating, refining, and/or implementing educational interventions for all members of the college. Dr. Dewsnap has been working in medical education since 2009; holding various positions in medical schools nationwide and abroad.
Dr. Dewsnap is married to a local urgent care physician, Dr. Stephanie Dewsnap, and they have a son, Jaxson, and two dogs, Ziggy and Monty.
