Biography
Received B.A. in Molecular & Cell Biology from the University of California, Berkeley, 1999. Received M.D. from UT Houston (McGovern) Medical School, 2003. Completed Internal Medicine internship at Baylor School of Medicine 2003-2004, followed by Pathology residency at UT Houston, 2004-2008, Chief Resident, 2007-2008 and Surgical Pathology fellowship at MD Anderson Cancer Center, 2008-2009. Worked as Staff Pathologist at Baylor University Medical Center with resident teaching responsibilities, 2009-2014.
Joined the Texas A&M College of Medicine (COM) in 2014 as Assistant Professor and Brazos Valley Pathologist Group as Staff Pathologist (2014-2019). Served as Assistant Dean of Academic Affairs for the Pre-clerkship from 2017 to 2019 along with other COM services over the years which included: Admissions Committee, Honor Council, Step I Taskforce, Pre-Clerkship Subcommittee Chair, 12th Man EnMed Operation, and TBL Review Committee. Currently affiliated with the Round Rock Campus and serving as the Hematology Oncology Block Course director (since 2014), CSIE Program director (since 2016) and CPC thread director (since 2019).
Also currently serving as Semester 3 implementation director (since 2018), member of the Question Review Committee (since 2014), Pre-Clerkship Subcommittee (since 2014), chairing the Vertical Integration efforts such as the BSIE program (2021) and several other Curriculum Committee working groups (2020-2021). Working as a Staff Pathologist at St. David Hospital in the Austin/Round Rock region (2019-present). Recent awards include the “Kelly Hester Basic Science Faculty award“ in 2019 and “Best Block” and “Best Lecturer” from 2015 to 2018.
