The Health Science Center's Interprofessional Faculty Practice Plan is the clinical and clinical education initiative for the institution. This plan focuses on the importance of population health management, primary care and interprofessional education beyond undergraduate medical education programs.
As health care revenue continues to support performance incentives for wellness, chronic disease management and total cost, population health management is key and requires institutions to successfully employ a team-based, interprofessional approach. The clinical practice plan will create a distinct clinical culture focusing on the Health Science Center's priorities of rural health, military health and innovation through engineering.
Steven Brown, MD, chief clinical officer and associate vice president of clinical strategy recently joined the Health Science Center to develop the plan that integrates all five colleges of the Health Science Center in a comprehensive approach to both clinical strategy and education.
As part of this clinical initiative, CHI St. Joseph Health and Texas A&M University Health Science Center announced plans to train Texas A&M medical students at locations throughout CHI St. Joseph Health's system, offering new opportunities to learn medicine in both rural and community settings.
