Distinguished Alumni Award Nominations
The Texas A&M University College of Medicine Distinguished Alumni Award is the highest alumni honor bestowed by the College of Medicine. A committee of staff and faculty members, appointed by the College of Medicine Dean, and Alumni Association members will review the nominations received. The annual award will be presented at the Scholarship Appreciation Dinner. The annual award will be presented at the annual Scholarship Appreciation Dinner.

Nomination Guidelines
Criteria for nomination and selection of candidates:
- Distinction in the medical, research, or related professions
- Demonstrated integrity, stature, and abilities that inspire students and other former students
- Attained prominence and made important contributions to his or her community and profession
- Have a record of accomplishments at the local, state, national, and international level
- Demonstrates pride and loyalty to the Texas A&M University College of Medicine Candidate Eligibility
- All nominees must have a degree from the Health Science Center/College of Medicine at Texas A&M University
- Nominees must be 10 years or more past graduation
- Posthumous nominations are welcomed
- Nominations must be submitted for individuals only – team nominations and self-nominations are not eligible
- Currently employed faculty or staff members of any Texas A&M University entity to include the Health Science Center or the Texas A&M University System are not eligible
- Individuals may only be awarded the Distinguished Alumni Award one time
- Complete the nomination packet.
- Save the packet as one file (the photo can be a separate file). Please do not send the forms in
- multiple files. The file should be named as Nominee Last Name-First Name-Distinguished
- Alumni Award.
- Email PDF to: MED-Dean@tamu.edu OR complete online form below. The nomination packet must be submitted by the designated due date.
- The College of Medicine Dean’s Office will receive and validate all nominees for eligibility.
- Letter of Nomination. This is the primary form used in determining finalists. Be as thorough and impactful as possible, while also short and concise. The Letter of Nomination should include:
- Significant achievements and contributions at State, National or International level
- Recognition of efforts in the field of Medicine, Medical Research, or chosen profession
- Noteworthy accomplishments
- Involvement/interest in Texas A&M University and/or the College of Medicine
- Brief Personal Biography (no more than one page) which describes the nominee's background, family, hobbies/interests, current work, military service, community work and any other personal accomplishments
- Current Curriculum Vitae or Resume, which illustrates the work he/she has done
- Letters of Support/Recommendation, signed and dated; Up to three (3) letters are encouraged
- Any letters dated beyond three years will not be considered
- A good quality, professional photo of the nominee
Any TAMU member, affiliate, or friend/family of the nominee can submit a nomination packet. Only one
submission per nominator will be considered.
*NOTE* If a packet was submitted for a previous nominee that did not win the award, the same packet
can be resubmitted the next year. Only the Nomination Form would need updated. Any recommendation
letters dated beyond a three-year period will not be considered.
Awards Selection Committee
A committee of individuals appointed by the College of Medicine Dean and members of the Alumni
Association Executive Committee will review the nominations received and make the determination
based on the criteria listed. Upon determining finalists, the recommendations will be sent to the School
of Medicine Dean for final review and approval.
