About Visiting Students Information
The Texas A&M College of Medicine uses the Visiting Student Learning Opportunities (VSLO), to receive visiting student applications for the new academic year.
We do not accept students from international colleges and medical schools.
1. Electives are designed as two- or four-week modules. No one-week electives will be scheduled. However, electives of varying lengths are allowed in accordance with the requirements of the student's own school, if this is approved by the Texas A&M University College of Medicine elective administrator and the Student Affairs Dean.
2. The College of Medicine fourth-year academic calendar indicates the standard dates for electives. All electives start on a Monday.
3. Elective opportunities are limited to students enrolled in Liaison Committee on Medical Education (LCME ) or American Osteopathic Association accredited schools only.
4. Certain elective opportunities are limited to School of Medicine students as indicated on the elective description.
5. All scheduling of electives is managed by the Office of Student Affairs and all communications should be through that office.
6. Students should review the information contained herein for the specific requirements of certain electives and should provide such information before arriving on campus.
7. Professional liability coverage of $25,000/$75,000 must be in effect before a student can be scheduled for an elective.
8. Each student is required to have a health insurance plan that will cover health related expenses which may occur while on our campus.

Elective scheduling procedure:
1. Texas A&M College of Medicine uses the Visiting Student Learning Opportunities (VSLO), to receive visiting student applications. To apply to our school complete and send a VSLO application for your preferred electives and dates. For more information or to contact on VSLO, visit the AAMC website. For more information on our visiting student electives, contact the Office of Student Affairs, 254-724-4987 or 979-436-0245 (Bryan campus). Students will be notified of the status of their application by the Office of Student Affairs.
2. Elective scheduling for students from the College of Medicine is completed in the spring before proceeding with scheduling of electives for visiting students.
3. The following documents are required, failure to provide will delay the processing of your application:
- AAMC Immunization Form
- Transcript
- Picture
- COMLEX or USMLE Step 1 and Step 2CK (if available)
- Curriculum vitae
- Verification of cleared criminal background check
