About Affective Neuroscience

The following labs are dedicated to Affective Neuroscience research ranging from Stress and Neurodegeneration to Affective Neuroimaging. Dr. Liberzon and Dr. Young are dedicated to researching fundamental processes controlling brain function at the molecular, genetic, and cellular levels focuses on abnormalities in various neuropsychiatric disorders.

Liberzon Lab (Houston)

Dr. Israel Liberzon leads the Liberzon Lab in researching affective neuroimaging. Aims of this lab include examining the link between Pattern Separation (PS)/Pattern Completion (PC) and Context Processing (CP) deficits and symptom severity in PTSD and discovering the role of Glucocorticoid signaling in modulating these functions. Research topics for the Liberzon Lab include neurobehavioral moderators or Post-traumatic Disease trajectories, neural patterns after spinal cord injuries, and computational psychiatry.
