Doctor of Medicine (MD) Program

MD PROGRAM OVERVIEW

Admission to the Texas A&M School of Medicine is highly selective, and only individuals who have completed at least 90 semester credit hours (or equivalent quarter hours) of their undergraduate course work at a fully accredited college or university in the United States or Canada are considered.

The School of Medicine prefers that applicants have earned their baccalaureate degree by the time of enrollment. By state mandate, enrollment of individuals who are residents of states other than Texas may not exceed 10 percent.

Professional licensure/certification requirements vary from state to state, which may affect a student’s ability to apply for a professional license/certification upon the completion of the program. The U.S. Department of Education regulation, 34 CFR 668.43 (a) (5) (v), requires an institution to disclose whether the program will fulfill educational requirements for licensure or certification for each state.
