About the Award
The Texas A&M University College of Medicine seeks nominations for the Outstanding Alumni Award. The Outstanding Alumni Award is the highest honor the College of Medicine bestows upon a former student. It is awarded to graduates who have transcended their fundamental roles as healthcare providers, scientists, and educators to become influential participants in advancing the art and science of medicine. The Outstanding Alumni Award recognizes graduates who have achieved prominence through their professional achievements and exemplify the Texas A&M core values of Excellence, Integrity, Leadership, Loyalty, Respect, and Selfless Service.

Nomination Guidelines
Criteria for nomination and selection of candidates:
- Distinction in the medical, research, business, or related professions
- Demonstrated integrity, stature, and abilities that inspire students and other former students
- Attained prominence and made important contributions to his or her community and profession
- Have a record of accomplishments at the local, state, national, and international level
- Demonstrates pride and loyalty to the Texas A&M University College of Medicine
Candidate Eligibility
- All nominees must have a degree from the Health Science Center/College of Medicine at Texas A&M University
- Nominees must be 10 years or more past graduation
- Posthumous nominations are welcomed
- Nominations must be submitted for individuals only
- Currently employed faculty or staff members of any Texas A&M University entity, including the Health Science Center or the Texas A&M University System, are not eligible
- Self-nominations will be accepted
- Individuals may only be awarded the Outstanding Alumni Award once
- Any TAMU member, affiliate, or friend/family of the nominee can submit a nomination packet
Application Procedure
- Complete the nomination packet: tx.ag/MedicineOutstandingAlumni
- All documents must be submitted to be considered a complete file for review.
- The College of Medicine Office of the Dean will receive and validate all nominees for eligibility.
Nomination Packet
- Letter of Nomination. This is the primary form used in determining finalists. Be as thorough and impactful as possible while also being concise. The Letter of Nomination should include:
- Significant achievements and contributions at the State, National, or International level
- Recognition of efforts in the field of Medicine, Medical Research, or other chosen profession
- Noteworthy accomplishments
- Involvement/interest in Texas A&M University and/or the College of Medicine
- Current Curriculum Vitae or Resume which illustrates the work he/she has done
- Letters of Support/Recommendation, signed and dated; Up to three (3) letters are encouraged.
- Any letters dated beyond three years will not be considered
Awards Selection Committee
A committee appointed by the College of Medicine, to include former students, will review the nominations received and make selections based on the criteria listed. Upon determining finalists, the recommendations will be sent to the College of Medicine Dean for final review and approval.
Presentation of Awards
The Outstanding Alumni Award(s) will be presented annually at the Scholarship Appreciation Dinner.
