Introducing Emily Rook

Emily Rook

Which undergraduate degree do you hold from Texas A&M?

I recently graduated with a BS in Biomedical Engineering from Texas A&M University.

What are your career goals?

In the future, I aspire to work as an emergency department physician. While earning my bachelor’s degree, I realized that I wanted to spend my life practicing medicine and interacting with patients. Healthcare is something I am truly passionate about, which has led me to pursue opportunities to grow as a care provider, such as volunteering in hospitals, shadowing doctors, and earning my license as an emergency medical technician. In the next few years, I would like to start medical school.

Who is your role model in life/Who do you look up to for inspiration in life?

My role model in life is my dad. His personal and professional achievements have always inspired me to work hard. My dad grew up in a very poor household and was fortunate enough to attend college on an ROTC scholarship. After serving in the military, he left to pursue a successful career in business. He has shown me that with hard work, determination, and a positive attitude it is possible to accomplish your goals.

Tell us something you are passionate about apart from studies

I love to travel and experience new things. I grew up traveling often, as my family lived in China for roughly six years and my mom is from Sweden. One of my favorite travel experiences was studying abroad for half a year in Bonn, Germany. Apart from travel, I enjoy staying active outdoors and spending time with friends, family, and my dog Cooper.
