Research Interests
I am interested in host pathogen interactions and how pathogens exploit the host’s immune system to prolong infection. I am working to understand how Mycobacterium tuberculosis regulates host immune pathways through manipulation of pathways associated with inflammatory responses.
What excites you about joining Texas A&M School of Medicine for your PhD studies?
The faculty and collaborative feel of the entire department excites me as I move into graduate school. The type of research being conducted by the faculty and their emphasis on a collaborative approach to research is something that excites me as I move forward.
If you could meet any scientist throughout history, who would you want to meet and why?
Louis Pasteur. His work with diseases laid the foundation of microbial research today as we continue his goal to gain new knowledge in the causes and prevention of diseases. Without his work, it would have delayed life-saving ideas about how microbes cause disease.
Tell us something you are passionate about apart from research.
I love to cook. When it comes to food, I love to make homemade sausage, pasta, and bread in my free time.
