Post Graduate Fellowship in Clinical Training for Social Work
Philosophy of Training
The Social Work Post Graduate Program provides a 1 - 2 year post-masters graduate training with extensive clinical experience, supervision, and educational opportunities in clinical social work while working towards independent licensure.
Goals
Our clinical training program for social work aims to prepare each Fellow to capitalize on the exciting opportunities for the development, delivery, and improvement of social work services in a multidisciplinary treatment team.
Program Design
Fellowship Term: Our postgraduate training program is generally a two-year program. Appointments are made initially for one year, with a second year re-appointment being at the discretion of the Department, and Fellow of interest. Appointments generally span from September 1st to August 31st. There may be opportunities for a more flexible start time.
Time Commitment: Approximately 40 hours/week
Expectations of Fellows:
- Develop a personal program of self-directed study and professional growth with guidance from the teaching staff
- Teach and supervise other Fellows, interns, and students as assigned or required
- Adhere to the established practices, procedures, and policies of the institution as well as published ethical and service standards of the National Association of Social Workers (NASW)
- Participate in outpatient interdisciplinary teams and in the social work programs offered through the Texas A&M University and community partners
- Obtain Texas state licensure as an LMSW and adhere to state licensing laws and regulations
- Conduct psychiatric evaluations and provide evidence-based psychosocial treatments for adult and child/adolescent outpatients
- Participate in additional training seminars and individualized educational experiences and research
Eligibility Requirements
- Completion of a Masters of Social Work degree at an CSWE-accredited institution
- An in person interview during the application process
- US Citizenship required
- Eligible to hold an LMSW license in the state of Texas
Salary and Benefits
- $37,000 stipend per year

- 3 weeks of (paid) vacation per year
