Introducing Sabrina Clark, 1st Year Medical Sciences PhD Student

Sabrina Clark

What degrees do you hold and from what institutions?

I graduated from Texas A&M 2019 WHOOP, with a bachelor of science in biochemistry and a bachelor of science in genetics.

What excites you about joining Texas A&M College of Medicine for your PhD studies?

Being alum I know all the ins and outs of Aggieland, so the thing that excited me most about doing my PhD studies with the college of medicine is the new college of medicine facilities/ campus. It's a whole new world to explore, with shiny new tech to play with!

If you could meet any scientist throughout history, who would you want to meet and why?

Definitely Louis Pasteur because his entire life was inspiring to me. He was a man of many talents. From struggling in school, his work as an artist, to his transformation over the years from an organic chemist to microbiologist, to an immunologist. He had a hand in everything, and it'd be really interesting to know how it all happened. For me, especially after hearing about his life, I believe that keeping an open mind, trying everything, learning everything I can, will give me a perspective that no one else will ever have. It'll allow me to make new strives in medical science, and my hope is that I'll be able to apply it and help the world just as he did.

Tell us something you are passionate about apart from research.

I have lots of hobbies, but I'd say the one that catches the most attention(and destroys my bank account) is the 4 aquariums around my apartment. I'm a huge aquarium hobbyist. I have a 60gallon, 30gallon, 20gallon, and 5gallon tanks, with around 50+ fish and 10+ species. Currently, all my tanks are freshwater, but it would be really great to work my way into saltwater someday. My dream is to have either a fish room with just walls lined with all different ecosystems or maybe just one gigantic wall-sized tank. Whatever the case, I love talking about them, and will go into crazy detail if someone is actually interested so feel free to ask me about it!
