Pre-JAMP / Pre-Med Symposium
ABOUT THE SYMPOSIUM
The Pre-JAMP/Pre-Medical Symposium is a half-day symposium intended for Texas residents who are high school sophomore, junior and, senior students who are interested in the field of medicine. We will provide informational workshops and optional activities for high school, students interested in applying to medical school.
One of our goals is also to introduce these students to a pre-medical program called the Joint Admission Medical Program (JAMP). JAMP was created by the Texas Legislature to support and encourage highly qualified, economically disadvantaged Texas resident students pursuing a medical education.
The symposium features presentations by physicians, and medical school faculty and staff on such topics as:
- The medical school admissions process
- Overview of JAMP
- Suturing and knot-tying workshop
- College success workshops
- Medical professionals and student panels
- Motivational speakers
- Clinical skills demonstration
- Tour of the clinical learning resource center
- Anatomy demonstration
- Continental breakfast and box lunch provided
Faculty, admissions representatives and current JAMP medical students will be present and available to answer questions.
DATES AND DEADLINES
The next symposium will be held on Saturday, May 6, 2023.
Registration will open on April 1st and Close April 28th or until filled.

SCHEDULE DETAILS
This event is for High School Students, the conference is scheduled from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. No on-site registration will be permitted.
The conference will be held in the Health Professions Education Building (HPEB) at the Texas A&M Health Science Center (TAMHSC) located at 8447 Riverside Parkway in Bryan, Texas. Upon arrival at the TAMHSC, you will find event signs leading you to Lot 3, the designated parking lot for the event. Lunch will be served. **If you are a parent attending and want lunch, then you will need to register also.

Throughout the day we will introduce you to the College of Medicine medical school faculty, staff, students, administrators, and pre-med advisors who have experience in the process of becoming a healthcare professional. We will also highlight the benefits of our Texas A&M Early Assurance Programs and the Joint Admission Medical Program (JAMP), a program designed to provide a pathway for economically disadvantaged students to obtain a degree in medicine.
*Important* We will be taking photos and possibly video throughout the day and we need your parent to sign a Talent Release Form at the time of dropping you off.
